Hi. Doing pretty good here and starting to feel more and more prepared every day. We're also making huge progress on the house and office, thanks to Barbara. We're getting so organized!
I'm feeling pretty good considering I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I'm sleeping very well aside from getting up 5 times a night to go to the bathroom (you think I'm kidding don't you?). I'm grateful that it's pretty easy to fall back asleep after the pee trips, I hope it's that easy after the 2 hour feedings when Emma's here. But seriously, I don't mind the waking up every two hours or so, it's preparation for when she's here, right?
We are so thankful to everyone that has helped us prepare for Emma. We are truly blessed to have so many generous friends and family members and I just want to say thanks to everyone for their support. We really wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for all of you. I especially want to thank all our friends and family that have donated clothes and baby items to us including my sister-in-law Su, Aunt Jackie and Uncle Dan, Kerry and Pat Adams, and the Burner family. Thank you all so much!
As of now my mom is coming in to visit for just over a week to help and my dad and step mom are coming the weekend after she's born, whenever that is. I'm hoping my sister and brother can make the trip as well but it's up in the air because of work and school. I really can't wait for all of them to meet Emma - it's going to be so surreal! I also can't wait to introduce her to my 2 nieces Katie and BethAnne - they are so excited to have a cousin and BethAnne already decided to pass along her nickname "peanut" to Emma. She says she's grown and thinks of herself more as a cashew these day. Man she makes me laugh.
Cooper is coping. I think he knows something is going on. He's been really rebellious the past few days and really getting on Dave's nerves. He even peed on his bed a few days ago just after Dave took him out (he was out there for 10 minutes and didn't do anything!). I have a feeling he's going to be just as hard to care for as Emma! But, he's still our baby and still cute as ever. Spoiled and cute.
Okay, so I've decided that Emma is going to have a LOT of hair. This heartburn thing is terrible! It's the one thing I am not going to miss about being pregnant. I think I pop about 6-8 Tums a day and half the time I pass it up since I don't want to take too many. Oh how it reminds me of my hiatal hernia days.
Good news on the pediatrician front. We have a consult scheduled for next Tuesday with a doctor that my friend Elizabeth recommended. I'm siked about it - they're close, take our insurance and it's a recommendation I trust. I also have another recommendation from my friend Kim that we're going to check into. So, yay!
Well, I'm tired so I an going to hit the couch and read one of the 4 books I'm in the middle of. Think I can finish one before she's born?
I'll update more on Thursday after our appointment... pray for progress!
Here's the update for this week:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
